Hamon Ben Richter, 85, of Gonzales, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14. He was born Sept. 8, 1932 in Gonzales County the son of Ray Milton Richter and Eunice Irene Baker Richter. He married Mable Elaine Bailey on June 19, 1950 in Gonzales.

He was a master carpenter and was involved in remodeling, new construction and any type of carpentry work needed. He was never idle and was always working. He enjoyed fishing with his grandkids, hunting, raising cattle, ham radio and later in life playing dominoes. Most of all he loved listening to his son and grandson play music. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Mable Richter of Gonzales; grandsons: Dennis Jay Richter Jr. and wife Connor, Mason Ben Richter and Colby Allan Richter all of Gonzales; great-grandson Rhett Richter of Gonzales; daughter-in-law Kim Avant of Gonzales; sister Martha Jones of Seguin; brothers Douglas Richter of LaGrange, Sam Richter and wife Pat of Seguin and Gary Richter of Alvin. Also surviving are numerous loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Dennis Jay Richter Sr., infant son Larry Ben Richter, brothers Roger, Willis, David, Charles and Leroy Richter, sisters Opal Counts and Eleanor Bailey.

Visitation will be held from 10 am until 12 noon, Monday, Feb. 19 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19 at Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Robert Ramirez officiating. Pallbearers include Bobby O’Neal, Alex Jones, Dustin Jones, Shane Roberts, Darren Richter and Richard Richter. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons Dennis, Mason, Colby and Rhett Richter, John Chenault, Douglas Wayne Richter and John Counts. Arrangements under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, Gonzales.
