Hangar rates re-evaluated, set

GONZALES — The City of Gonzales will have 10 new T-Hangars, at the Roger M. Dreyer Memorial Airport in the coming weeks. The project is set for completion mid to late August, but rains have cost workers a few days.

The rental rates for the new hangars and amendments to the rental rates for the existing hangars needed to be set, in order to be in line with competitor cities.

Airport Manager Ralph Camarillo researched the rental rates in surrounding cities and determined the by-the-square-foot rental rates for the City of Gonzales were substantially lower than those rates in surrounding cities.

Camarillo's proposal was to reclassify the designations for the hangar dimensions to include the airport's new T-Hangars in the rental rates.

The new rental rates are: Small Hangar 35 feet by 40 feet, $175 per month; Medium Hangar 34 feet by 43 feet, $225 per month; Large Hangar 50 feet by 60 feet, $300 per month; and Extra Large Hangar 60 feet by 100 feet, $600 per month.

The City of Hallettsville rents T-hangars for $150 per month. A 60 feet by 60 feet hangar is $325.

The City of Lockhart rents a T-hangar (42 feet by 30 feet) for $250 per month and (45 feet by 41 feet) $350 per month.

Camarillo also reviewed prices in San Marcos, New Braunfels and Giddings. These rate comparisons are all listed on the City of Gonzales Website.
