Happy Fall Y’all this Saturday

GONZALES — The Gonzales Main Street district is happy to announce the Happy Fall Y’all celebration will take place this Saturday, Oct. 20 on Confederate Square. All the fun and festivities start at 5:30 p.m. and the excitement continues until 10 p.m.

There is something for everyone this year. The Lynn Theater is providing a viewing of Hotel Transylvania 3, with the movie starting at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Other events include pumpkin painting (sponsored by the Youth Center), costume contest (with pictures of the kiddies running in the Nov. 1 edition of the Gonzales Inquirer), Jack-o-Lantern contest, vision testing courtesy of the Noon Lions Club, plenty of games (sponsored by the hospital), a trunk or treat for the kids, a photo booth, a Gonzales Fire Department fire truck and a Gonzales Police Department car, face painting, music, concession stand with nachos and hot dogs and much, much more. The Gonzales Police Department will also be handing out safety tips for the kids for Halloween.

“I’m excited that Main Street is doing this for the community,” said Barbara Friedrich, executive director of the Gonzales Main Street Program. “We’ve got lots of excitement building, there is plenty to do, the Lynn is providing a movie, and kids and families should have a fun time.”

The Long Branch Saloon is even piggy backing on the Main Street event as they are hosting a mini-Oktoberfest celebration at their location. Starting at 5:30 p.m., there will be different Texas and German Oktoberfest beers for sampling at reduced prices. All of the personnel will be attired in traditional German Oktoberfest garb. In addition, owner Karen Jacobs says she will have polka or accordion music playing out front during the Fall Y’all event.

“I hope all the parents will have their kids dressed in Halloween costumes,” said Inquirer publisher Terry Fitzwater. “We plan on taking lots of pictures of the kids and putting them in a special Halloween section of our Nov. 1 edition of the paper.”
