Heat advisory in place Tuesday

The National Weather Service reports that a heat advisory will be in effect from noon to 7 p.m. today for counties along and east of Interstate 35 including the Austin and San Antonio Metro areas.
Maximum heat index values will range from 105 to 112 degrees within the advisory area. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for Val Verde County as breezy conditions and low relative humidity values result in increased fire danger to the west of Interstate 35.
A few isolated thunderstorms are possible along the front this afternoon and evening from Carrizo Springs to San Antonio to New Braunfels. If the storms do form, they could produce damaging thunderstorm downburst winds and some small hail.
