Herbert Lee Schellenberg

On Jan. 22, 2019, Herbert Lee Schellenberg of Harwood, completed his journey here on Earth peacefully in his sleep. Herbert, 86, was born on April 25, 1932, in Gonzales County to Otto and Millie Knesek Schellenberg.

He grew up on the family farm in Gonzales County and was the youngest of five children. Herbert attended the Porter Country School. He enjoyed working for the Grauke family on the chicken farm. He gave much focus to the simplest task and could spend an afternoon picking up pecan limbs.

Herbert loved to compliment the ladies and never knew a stranger.

He was a sociable man that enjoyed many afternoons playing games of bingo and dominoes. Herbert was a man of faith and promised to pray for most everyone he with whom he crossed paths.

Herbert is survived by his sister Annie Rabel of Seguin; sister-in-law Joyce Schellenberg of Harwood, Dale and Sherri Schellenberg, Debbie and H.C. “Bubba“ Schmidt, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Louie, Max, Dannie Schellenberg and sister Elaine Novak.

Visitation was held at Seydler Hill Funeral Home Friday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. with graveside services 2 p.m. in the Haschke/Lebanon Cemetery with Pastor Matt Pennington officiating.
