Historic Homes Tour featured during Winterfest

GONZALES — Just a week after Thanksgiving, five historic homes will open for the annual Gonzales Main Street Historic Homes Tour.

The Historic Homes Tour is featured during the Gonzales Main Street Winterfest and takes place on Saturday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 3, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on both dates.

The first home on the tour is the O.B. Roberson House, at 1520 St. Louis Street. The home was built in 1914 and is owned by Chris Kappmeyer.

Next up is the C.H. Hoskins House, located at 906 St. Louis Street. This home was constructed in 1911 and is owned by Lillian Smith.

The third house on the tour is the Compton House. This home is located approximately 5.2 miles south of town, at 5355 State Highway 183 South. The Compton House was constructed in the 1920s and is owned by Zoe Compton.

The next home on the tour is the C.T. Rather House. The home, built in 1892, is located at 828 St. Louis Street and owned by Richard and Barbara Crozier.

The final home on the tour is the T.N. Matthews House, built in 1885, owned by The Daughters of the Republic of Texas and located at 829 Mitchell Street.

Tickets for the Holiday Homes Tour are $20 and available at Gonzales Chamber of Commerce.
