Homecoming victory for St. Paul

SHINER — Shiner St. Paul’s home opener was also their homecoming game as they took down the Bryan St. Joseph Eagles 59-14, scoring all 59 points in the first half.

St. Paul did almost all their damage on the run as quarterback Austin Barton threw and complete just one pass, an 18-yard touchdown throw to Ryan Bell in the first quarter.

Leading the way in scoring and yards was Conor Kresta who ran for 214 yards and three touchdowns. Tre’Zell Jenkins-Perkins rushed for 71 yards and two scores. Ryan Malinovsky gained 85 yards with a score. Joseph Natal also scored on 17 total yards rushing. Natal also returned an interception for a touchdown.

Bryan St. Joseph’s scores came in the fourth quarter.

Shiner St. Paul now moves to 1-1, with their next game on the road against Flatonia (1-1).
