Hot Rod Standoff to return

Posted

Can enthusiasts and those of the gear-head culture will be delighted to hear of the return of the Hot Rod Standoff car show to Gonzales, which motors back to town on Saturday, June 4.

It is the ultimate high-octane event for classic car, hot rod, rat rod and modified vehicle lovers, and the perfect convergence of Texas country meets tattoo rockabilly.

Townsfolk got a chance last year to see what Hat Rod Productions, based out of Lockhart, had in store for the historic downtown district. Over 100 cars from across the state arrived to Texas Heroes and Confederate Square. The event brought a slew of tourists which all undoubtedly benefited local businesses during their stay.

Gonzales can expect even more cars this year according to the promoter. Multiple vendors will again set up shop and music will be played all day.

Car owners can register in advance for $25 or wait and spend $30 day-of-show. Military veterans will receive special pricing of $15. All registrants will get a T-shirt and swag bag. The show runs 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Registrations can be found at www.hotrodstandoff.org or by calling promoter Joel Gammage at 512-657-4616.

The day also promises to bring you a diverse musical lineup that will have both hotrod hellraisers and Gonzales good ol’ boys dancing together. A full slate of rockabilly tunes are scheduled for the daytime crowd while Nashville hit maker Rick Trevino takes the downtown stage from 10 p.m.-midnight for a free concert. A full schedule will be posted at the event nears.
