Hubert Paul (H.P.) Adams Sr., 97, of Smiley, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6 in Brenham.

Born April 26, 1921 in Robstown, Texas. Hubert was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He enjoyed various hobbies during the years including farming and ranching, horses, playing cards with his in laws, dancing and saltwater fishing. He enjoyed watching sports and was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. Hubert had a great sense of humor. He was a hardworking man, retiring from Questor Drilling as a Drilling Superintendent after 42 years of service. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and a man everyone looked up to.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ruth Adams of Smiley.; daughter JoAnn Adams Helms of Texico, New Mexico and son Dennis Charles Adams Sr. of Victoria; daughter Linda Ray and her her husband Howard of Houston; special granddaughters, Renee Rios, and her husband Oscar, Jenny Alexander and her husband Lloyd all of Giddings; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren; brothers. Lloyd Adams and his wife Sharon of D’Hanis and James Adams and his wife, Peggy of San Angelo; sister, Joyce Braune of New Braunfels; sisters in law, Judy Rudloff and Cora Lee Naumann both of Brenham; brother in law Walter Korth Sr of Brenham, also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Eva and John Adams; sons Timothy Adams, David Adams, and Hubert Paul Adams Jr; daughter Janet Swonke; granddaughters Jo Lynn Queener and Shannon Beal; great grandson Colby Kelton.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 at First Baptist Church 108 FM 108, Smiley, TX 78159. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park 2951 TX-46, New Braunfels, TX 78130, also on Wednesday the 13th. Arrangements are under the direction of Goetz Funeral Home 713 N. Austin St. in Seguin.
