Jack Stanley Townsend passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of April 19 surrounded by his loving family.

Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Alice Faye Ham Townsend; survived by his daughters Millie Jones and Jackie Ideus of Harwood, TX; grandchildren Jeff and Randi Ideus of Houston, TX, Travis and Melissa Jones of Austin, TX and Jennifer and Billy Hull of Harwood, TX; Great grandchildren Alyssa Ideus, Jackson and Sawyer Jones, Blake, Matt and Mandy Hull.

Jack was born Aug. 2, 1928 in Clinton, Okla. to Jack and Lucille Townsend. He joined the Marine Corps shortly after his high school graduation and was stationed in San Diego, Calif. Not long after his enlistment ended, he married Alice Faye and the couple began the task of raising a family in Houston, TX. In the late 1970s the couple moved to Alice’s family property north of Gonzales and started a life in agriculture. He raised chickens for Tyson and cattle for many years.

Jack was a devoted father and grandfather. There was nothing more important to him than his family and friends. He only knew hard work and took great pride in all he put his energy to. He enjoyed the simple things in life, such as a sunset over his property or sitting and watching his grandkids play with a smooth bourbon and coke in hand.

A graveside funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27 at the Thompsonville Community Cemetery, with a lunch reception served after the service around 12 p.m. noon at the Thompsonville Community Center. Memorials may be made to the Thompsonville Cemetery Association or the charity of one’s choice. Friends may leave their condolences by visiting www.seydlerhillfuneralhome.com.
