James Lloyd Hedrick, 86, of Junction, formerly of Gonzales, joined the Church Triumphant Friday, June 15, 2018. He was born Oct. 23, 1931 in George West to Benjamin Luther and Martha Agnes Gleason Hedrick. James was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Rae (Toby) Eggling and brothers Ernest Raymond, Kennith Harold, and Earl Wayne Hedrick and brother-in-law Bobby H. Tidwell of Oneonta, Ala.

He attended school in George West and joined the Army at the age of 17. He served four years then returned to Texas to drive trucks. James never lost his love of being “on the go.” He was always ready to travel anywhere. He enjoyed visits with the coffee drinkers at The Rodeo, Dairy Queen, Matamoros, and Cafe on the Square. He loved attending The Fellowship on Sunday mornings.

He is survived locally by nephew and wife Ken and Joann Hedrick; son, Justin Lloyd Hedrick; sister, Virginia Hedrick Tidwell of Oneonta, Ala.; cousin and wife Bill and Janet Leslie of Kerrville; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Internment was in San Fernando Cemetery III in San Antonio on Wednesday, June 20 at 11 a.m. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 23 at 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Gonzales. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gonzales County Veterans Memorial Association, 562 CR 238 in Gonzales or a charity of one's choice.
