Jean “Mema” Moore, 96, passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019. She was born March 9, 1923 in Rosedale, Oklahoma the daughter of George Wesley Connor and Anne Francis Page. Jean married Guy Edwin Moore of Hitchcock, Texas on Oct. 3, 1940 in Galveston. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church.

Jean and her husband guy moved to Gonzales from Houston in 1959. They enjoyed the ranch while Jean worked for many years until retiring from the Gonzales Lumber Company.

Jean is survived by her son, Guy Moore of Gonzales, Texas, her daughter, Phrona Byars of Victoria, Texas her granddaughters, Terry Smirak (husband August), Dorothy Moore (partner Bob McCann), great-grandchildren, Jacklyn Meismer (husband Kyle) and Wesley Smirak (partner Lindsey Hedrick), and great-great grandchildren Ava Smirak, Brayson Meismer, and Wyatt Meismer and niece Francis Myers (husband David). Jean is preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 13, 2019 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Ildiko Rigney officiating. Interment will follow in Gonzales Memorial Park. Pallbearers: August Smirak, Wesley Smirak, Kyle, Meismer and Bob McCann. Honorary Pallbearers: Brason Meismer and Wyatt Meismer. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Gonzales First Lutheran Church or charity of one’s choice.
