Jeronimo “Jerry” Gallardo, 45, passed away on Saturday, May 6 in Alpine, California.

Jerry was born on Jan. 25, 1972 in Gonzales to Ben Gallardo and Minerva Gallardo. He was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales. He graduated from Gonzales High School in 1990. Jerry served proudly as a United States Marine for eight years. After he left the Marine Corps, he never stopped being a Marine. He settled in the San Diego area. He had an extraordinary talent as a drummer and he spent his years in San Diego performing with various bands and being known as one of the San Diego’s premier drummers.

He was fearless as a child, which served him well as a Marine. He was a straightforward man, but also very sweet and kind. He had a beautiful smile. He always had a way to make you laugh and was a fun uncle to his nieces and nephews. He loved his family very much and we will all miss him forever.

Jerry is survived by his wife D’Arcy Gallardo and daughter Martina Gallardo, step-daughter Daniella Haynes, grandson Mekhi Haynes, his parents Ben and Minerva Gallardo of Gonzales, his sister Monica (Mike) Lamey of Jasper, Indiana, his brother Gabriel (Nela) Gallardo of Gonzales, his sister Frances Gallardo of Gonzales, and his brother Mario Gallardo of San Antonio, nieces and nephews Erika Lamey, Jacob Lamey, Matthew Lamey, Guiseppe “Joey” Gallardo, Roma Gallardo, Bernardino “Benny” Gallardo, Esteban Gallardo and Antonio Gallardo as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him very much. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Maximo and Gumecinda Canales and paternal grandfather Geronimo Gallardo.

A funeral mass took place on Saturday, May 13 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Pallbearers: Mario Gallardo, Lance Thompson, Matt Aguirre, Guiseppe “Joey” Gallardo, Chris Rodriguez, Max Canales, Danny Cedeno and Joey Supak. The family received friends during the viewing on Friday, May 12 from 5-7 p.m. at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. The rosary took place on Friday at 7 p.m.
