Jo Ann (Mang) Rudd

Jo Ann Rudd, 86, of Lubbock went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 after a brief illness.

She was born July 24, 1934 to Charles and Mildred Mang in Moulton, Texas.

She graduated from Gonzales High School in Gonzales, Texas in 1952. She was known for her inward beauty, as well as her striking looks. She went from winning "Miss Gonzales," becoming Miss South Texas and then all the way to 3rd runner-up in the "Miss Texas" pageant. She became a registered nurse and had a long career in this field.

In 1995 she married Billy D. Rudd of Lubbock; the love of her life and they shared many blessed years of adventure and travel.

She was a longtime Lubbock resident, and a registered nurse at several area hospitals. As a faithful member of Trinity Church, she was active in the "Prime Timers" group. Her love for her family and church, along with the dedication to her profession; she had many opportunities to serve and volunteer.

She is survived by her husband, Bill, of 25 years, her son: Brett Miller (wife Julie) of Austin, Texas; daughter: Cindy Davis (husband Les) of Waco, Texas; step daughter: Pam Hammer (husband Steve) of San Angelo, Texas; ninegrandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son: Jo Don Chandler, two previous husbands, her parents, brothers and sisters. Her siblings included: Jack Mang, (who was killed in World War II, one of the first Marines to go ashore at the Pacific island Battle of Tarawa), Gerald, Mary, and Juanita. She was particularly close to her sisters and when they were together there was always laughter and joy.

Jo Ann’s final resting place is Resthaven Memorial Park, 5740 West 19th St., Lubbock. The Celebration Of Life Service was held in the Abbey Chapel on Nov.r 18, 2020 at 10 a.m., officiated by Pastor David Savage.
