Joe Lee Pape

Joe Lee Pape, 79, of Leesville, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 at the Texan Nursing & Rehab in Gonzales.

Visitation was held on Monday, Aug. 15 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales.

Joe was born on Oct. 20, 1936 in Floresville. He was the son of Oscar and Nancy (Cockcroft) Pape. He married Elaine Hernandez in 1960. He was a heavy equipment operator for 65 years, working in Gonzales County and other surrounding counties.

Joe loved to go hunting and fishing, and raising game fowl. He was a strong and dedicated family man who loved his wife and children.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Elaine Pape; sons, Darrell Pape and his wife, Yvonne of Gonzales, James Pape and his wife, Laura of Gonzales, Leland Pape of Gonzales; daughters, Terry Tuch and her husband, Leroy of Gonzales, Nancy Filip and her husband, Randy of Cuero, Michelle Carson and her husband, John of Gonzales, Janice Parr and her husband, James of Cuero, Shannon Knox and her husband, Scott of Gonzales; brother, Orval Pape of Santa Anna; sisters, Roberta Grahmann of Cuero, Elberta Zuker of Cuero, Louis Ann Durbin of Seguin; 24 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Nancy Pape and one brother, Horace Pape.
