Joel “Butch” Lawhorn, age 94, passed away on March 31 at the Heights of Gonzales. He was born in Humble, Texas to Cyrus and Lena on Aug. 14, 1923.

Butch had three siblings, Freely, RB and Lois, all preceded him in death.

Butch was a proud veteran who served as a medic in WWII. After returning home he began his career in the oil and gas industry. This became his passion where he worked until his retirement at the age of 87.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Melanie Vega as well as the many others who assisted in Butch’s care. Melanie became a dear friend as well as a compassionate caregiver.

Visitation will be held from 5p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3. Funeral services will be held in Gonzales, Texas at Seydler Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 4 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jesse Elizondo officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Woodmen of the World Cemetery.

Pallbearers include: Danny K. Roberts, Bill Robinson, Jason Miller, Michael Bosquez, David Gonzales and David Blaschke.
