Josephine “Josie” Guerra

Josephine “Josie” Guerra, 81, of Gonzales, loving wife, mother and friend passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 4, 1935 in Gonzales, TX.

Josie was a hard worker from an early age. She worked as a caregiver most of her life and enjoyed helping others. Josie loved to cook for her kids, especially for her grandkids, who lovingly called her “MOMO”. She also loved drinking coffee and spending time with her very special girlfriends. She was very generous and giving.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years Jesse Guerra. She is also survived by her children Ricky Rivera and wife Carmen, Cindy Rios, Sylvia Dreyer and husband Jene, Sandra Guerra, Liz Longoria and husband Michael and Anthony Guerra and wife Rebecca; brothers Jose, Manuel and Jimmy Flores; 11 Grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents and her beloved cat “Sheba”.

A Vigil service and Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private family interment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Gonzales Pet Shelter. Arrangements under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, Gonzales.
