Josephine “Josie” Pena, 70, Grain Valley, MO was lifted to heaven on Tuesday, Aug. 8, surrounded by her seven children.

Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. with a visitation to follow until 7 p.m., Sat., Aug. 12 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; cremation.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Three Rivers Hospice, 700 Branch Street Suite 4, P.O. Box 1937. Platte City, MO 64079.

Josie was born Sept. 6, 1946 in Nixon, TX and was raised by Jose and Julia Aguirre in a loving home. She married her childhood sweetheart, Charlie Pena, in 1964. Together they made a home in northeast Kansas City where they raised their seven children.

Josie was an avid reader and loved to cook for her large family. She looked forward to her visits home to Texas each year. She enjoyed classic country music, especially George Strait.

She had a passion for sports her whole life and loved her hometown team, the Kansas City Royals.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie in 2011.

She is survived by daughters Cindy and spouse Hope, Monique and husband Brian, son Eli, daughters Julie, Melanie and husband Mark, Staci and husband Vito, son Joe Mike; grandchildren Morgan, Romen, Gabriel, Isaac, Isa Josephine, Olivia and Oscar.
