Julia Frances Griggs peacefully passed away on May 2 at her home in Arizona surrounded by those who she dearly loved and deeply loved her. Even though not all of those she loved so much were able to be with her at the time of her passing she undoubtedly was thinking of all of them with the love she showed them during her life.

Frances was born February 18, 1926 to Joseph and Julia Hawkins in Patchogue, Long Island, New York. She did her part during WWII while working at Grumman Aircraft Factory assembling P-48 aircraft. She was married on March 10, 1946 to Herman Griggs until his passing March 3, 2011 one week before their 65th wedding anniversary. A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and also a 25-year member of Waelder Chapter of Eastern Star and a dual member of the Luling Chapter. Frances was Worthy Matron for both chapters; Waelder from 1995-1996 and Luling 2003- 2004. She was a very loving mother to three boys that she raised to be fine men.

Frances is survived by Wayne and his wife Jan, George and his wife Annette, Joseph and Frances’ step daughter Erna Prawdzik, nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services are under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 11 from 10 a.m. until noon. There will be an Eastern Star Service at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday with Pastor JoAnn Leifeste officiating.
