Gonzales 7A boys ends season with victory over Brooks Academy

The Gonzales 7th grade A boys’ basketball team knocked off San Antonio Brooks Academy 48-19 to finish their season 6-6.

Max Castillo was leading scorer with 14 points. T.J. Riojas scored added 12 points while, Hunter Henke and Carlos Martinez scored seven points each, Joshua Gaither scored four points, Kamren Leal scored three points and Weston Ruddock scored one point. 

“Although these boys were undersized against the majority of their opponents, they did a great job being aggressive and competitive in every game,” Coach John Patek said. “They had a good season finishing with a 6-6 record.”

Lady Apaches 7A team dominant in season finale

On Monday, Feb. 4, the Gonzales Lady Apache 7th grade A basketball team defeated the San Antonio Brooks Academy Bengals 41-2.

Ravyn Lookabill scored eight points, Marina Camarillo and Tara Lester each scored six points, Niyahna Lowery scored five points, Sydney McCray, Macy Sample and Abbie Villanueva each scored four points and Erin Melchor and Mallory Clack each scored two points. The 7th grade A team finished the season with a record of 5-8.

“Us coaches are very proud of the hard work and dedication these girls put in all season,” Coach Jessica Aguilar said. “Way to finish the season with a win, ladies! Go Lady Apaches!”

Gonzales 8B take tough loss

The Gonzales 8B boys basketball team came up short against San Antonio Brooks Academy.

Philip Gonzales led in scoring with five points while Braxton Crane and Tyrann Gonzales both had three points and Eric Gallegos, Gabriel Davidson, Luke Avant, Aden Hernandez and Jaekwon Hastings each had two points.

Gonzales 8A lose against Brooks

The Gonzales 8A boys basketball fought through a tough opponent in San Antonio Brooks Academy, but lost in the game.

Angel Martinez led with 11 points. Ryan Cantu and Jorge Amador both dropped 10. Colbie Pullin added four points while Josh Esparza had three and Mason Navejar finished with one point.
