Gonzales 8A places 2nd in tournament

In the Schulenburg tournament, the 8th grade boys first played the Shiner Comanches and the Apaches came through with the win. Jorge Amador led the way with eight points while Josh Esparza had six points, Mason Navejar and Ryan Cantu each had five points, Angel Martinez had three points and Kason Tieken added two points.

In the second game the Apaches defeated the Schulenburg Shorthorns with Angel Martinez leading the way with 13 points. Josh Esparza added eight points, Mason Navejar with seven, Jorge Amador with four and Ethan Crouch, Ryan Cantu and Colbie Pullin all had two points each.

In the final game, Gonzales lost to Flatonia earning second place. Angel Martinez had seven points, Jorge Amador had six points while Colbie Pullin, Corben Wolff and Josh Esparza each had two points.

Gonzales 7A takes 2nd in tournament

The Gonzales 7th grade A team won second place in the Schulenburg Tournament. Gonzales opened with a win over Shiner, 27-14. Max Castillo scored 10 points, Kamren Leal scored eight points, T.J. Riojas scored four points, Weston Ruddock scored three points and Carlos Martinez scored two points.

The Apaches went on to beat Schulenburg 37-11. T.J. Riojas scored 12 points, Max Castillo scored eight points, Hunter Henke scored six points, Joshua Gaither scored 5 points, Carlos Martinez scored four points and Demetrius scored two points.

Gonzales lost the championship game to Flatonia 42-29. Joshua Gaither scored nine points, Max Castillo scored eight points, T.J. Riojas scored seven points, Adan Cabrera scored three points and Carlos Martinez scored two points. Gonzales 7A’s overall record moved to 5-4.

Apache 7A knock off Pleasanton in double OT

The Gonzales 7th grade A team beat Pleasanton in double overtime 54-53. Max Castillo was leading scorer with 23 points. He led a great comeback scoring 17 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter and beyond. T.J. Riojas scored 13 points and had several blocked shots. Carlos Martinez scored 10 points including hitting a three pointer as time expired to send the game into double overtime. Joshua Gaither scored 7 points. Hunter Henke hit the game winning free throw with 20 seconds left. Their record on the season moved to 3-3.

Gonzales 7B loses to Pleasanton

The Gonzales 7th grade B team lost to Pleasanton 30-7. Cree Stowers was leading scorer with three points and Jaydee Longoria and Demetrius Segura scored two points each. Their record dropped to 2-3.

Apaches 7A boys lose to La Vernia

The Gonzales 7th grade A team lost to La Vernia 41-23 on Jan. 10. Joshua Gaither was leading scorer with 11 points. T.J. Riojas scored eight points, Max Castillo and Carlos Martinez scored two points each. Their record went to 2-3 after the game.

Apaches 7B boys lose to La Vernia

The Gonzales 7th grade B team lost to La Vernia 35-17 on Jan. 10. Cree Stowers was leading scorer with six points, Parker Storey scored five points, Demetrius Segura scored three points, Kamren Leal scored two points and Jaydee Longoria scored one point. Their record dropped to 2-2.
