Lady Apache lifters take top-four spots at meet

SMITHVILLE — The Gonzales boys’ and girls’ powerlifting teams traveled to Smithville last Saturday to compete in the powerlifting meet, with all five Lady Apache lifters taking top four spots in their respective weight class.

Top spot went to Khelsea Cray who took second placed in the 148-pound weight class. Her splits were 315 squat, 140 bench press and 325 dead lift for a total of 780 pounds. Taking first was Kyle Lehman’s Rubylee Perez who had a total of 800 pounds (345-150-305).

Amberleigh Watson took fourth in the same weight class, with splits of 205-100-220 for a total of 525 pounds. She was bested by Columbus’ Hope Yanis who placed third with her total of 555 pounds.

In the 132-pound weight class, Alyssa DeLuna placed third with her 530-pound weight total. Her splits were 220-85-225. Cristal Garcia placed fourth in the 165-pound weight class with her lifts of 255-110-290 for a 655 total. Sydney Clack came away with third place in the 220-pound weight class with her total of 580 pounds. Her splits were 235-110-235.

On the boys’ side the top lifter in his respective class was Jimmy Bustos in the 220-pound weight class. Bustos had a total of 990 pounds with splits of 425-250-315. Vicente Reyna placed seventh in the same weight class with lifts of 335-205-375 for a total of 915 pounds. Brendon Rodriguez placed 10th in the same class with splits of 315-205-315 for 835 total pounds. Cameron Mileham was 13th in the same 220-pound weight class with lifts of 250-185-285 totaling to 720 pounds.

In the 165-pound weight class, Sergio Torres took sixth with splits of 365-205-365 for a total of 935 pounds. Tristen Cernosek placed ninth with his total lift of 620 pounds with splits of 250-125-245.

Bryan Garza placed eighth in the 198-pound weight class with splits of 335-190-320 totaling to 845 pounds. Trent Wilkerson placed sixth in the 242-pound weight class with his splits of 415-225-375 totaling to 1015 pounds.
