Lady Cardinal cagers make academic all-state list

Five Shiner St. Paul Lady Cardinal athletes were named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association academic all-state team for girls basketball this week.

Named to the team were Riley Johnson, Gracey Novosad, Delynn Pesek, Christine Wagner and Grace Irvin. The all-state honors are awarded to athletes who have a cumulative GPA of 94 for the first three years and first semester of their senior year.

Johnson was also named to the TAPPS Academic All State team, the first team all district and the second team all state on the TAPPS 2A State Runner up Lady Cardinal Basketballs team.

Novosad was named to the TAPPS Academic All State team, the TAPPS District 5-2A First Team All District, First Team All State on the TAPPS 2A State Runner up Lady Cardinal Basketballs team and to the TAPPS 2A State Championship All Tournament Team.

Pesek was a member of the TAPPS Academic All State and TAPPS District 5-2A first team all district, first team all state team and the TAPPS 2A State Runner up Lady Cardinal Basketballs team.  She was also named to the TAPPS 2A State Championship All Tournament Team

Wagner was a member of the TAPPS Academic All State and Second Team All District TAPPS 5- 2A and a member of the State Runner up Lady Cardinal Basketball team. She was also named to the TAPPS 2A State Championship All Tournament Team.

Irvin was a member of the TAPPS Academic All State and TAPPS District 5-2A First Team All District, First Team All State Team and  the TAPPS 2A state runner up Lady Cardinal Basketballs team.  She was also named to the TAPPS 2A State Championship All Tournament Team.
