Lady Cardinals dropped in playoff warmup

ROUND ROCK — Shiner St. Paul played a tune-up game Tuesday, taking on Round Rock Christian on the road, losing to the Lady Crusaders in four sets (21-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-15). The Lady Crusaders capped their season going undefeated in their district (TAPPS District 4-3A) with an overall record of 25-10-4 (according to tappster.com). Meanwhile, Shiner St. Paul concluded their regular season going undefeated in their district as well (TAPPS District 5-2A) with a 26-11 record.

Allie Kutac led the team in kills with 14. She also had two blocks and an ace. Meanwhile, Delynn Pesek had eight kills and four digs, Gracey Novosad had four kills, two aces and a team-leading 11 digs along with Mallory Grabarkievtz who had 11 digs to go with her 28 assists. Parker Clay had four kills and three blocks and Grace Irvin had two kills, one ace and one block.

Shiner St. Paul begin their run in the playoffs tonight against Baytown Christian (23-21-3). Baytown Christian defeated Bryan Allen in the first round of the playoffs three sets to two. St. Paul hosts this round, with the game set for 4 p.m. The winner today will take on the winner between Bryan St. Joseph Catholic and Waco Live Oak Classical.
