Lady Cardinals knock off rivals

HALLETTSVILLE — Shiner St. Paul traveled to Hallettsville to take on their rivals, the Sacred Heart Indianettes, besting the hosts 44-33 in the process.

After taking a commanding 14-9 lead, the Lady Cardinals maintained the lead throughout the game, outscoring Sacred Heart 9-4 in the second and 10-8 in the third before conceding 17 points to their 11 in the final frame, ultimately winning by 10 points.

Gracey Novosad led the team in scoring with 18 points. She was close to a triple-double, adding 11 rebounds, two assists and seven steals to the stat sheet. Riley Johnson had six points, one assist and seven rebounds, Delynn Pesek had six points, one rebound and one steal, Ashley Wachsmuth had three points and three rebounds, Kayla Malatek had two points, one assist and three steals and Parker Clay had two points, one rebound and two steals.

The Lady Cardinals host St. Joseph tonight, with tipoff scheduled for 5 p.m.
