Lady Cardinals win consolation bracket

BELLVILLE — The Shiner St. Paul Lady Cardinals traveled to Bellville to compete in the Bellville Faith Academy tournament over the weekend, with the volleyball team finishing as consolation champions in the gold bracket.

In pool play, the Lady Cardinals beat CHSM JV and Aggieland 2-0, while splitting with Providence Classical 1-1.

In bracket play, the team lost to Huntsville Alpha Omega (25-20, 26-24), beat Bellville Faith Academy (18-25, 25-14, 15-7) and then Katy Faith West (25-16, 15-16).

Delynn Pesek with 43 kills, 10 aces, 18 digs, Parker Clay with 19 kills, seven blocks, one ace, Grace Irvin had 18 kills, two blocks, eight digs, nine aces, Gracey Novosad 18 kills, 12 digs, eight aces, Christine Wagner 64 assists, four kills, 17 aces, Riley Johnson seven kills, 19 assists, eight digs, nine aces, Emma Hull one kill, six aces, five digs and Scarlett Crawford with three kills, seven digs and four aces. St. Paul takes on Rice today, with the varsity team scheduled to play at 7 p.m. at home. They also host San Marcos HC on Thursday, with the varsity team scheduled to play at 6 p.m.
