Lady Cardinals win golf state title

WACO — Shiner St. Paul traveled to Waco this week to take on the TAPPS 2A golf championship. The Lady Cardinals will be returning with some new hardware as they placed first in the meet, winning the state championship in golf. The boys team placed fifth.

The Lady Cardinals had a total of 408 strokes, besting Lubbock Southcrest Christian School who took second with 451 strokes.

Leading the way for St. Paul was Sarah Peters with 96 strokes. She placed fifth overall. Sadie Thibodeaux finished with 99, Paige Brown had 102, Ashley Wachsmuth had 111 and Madison Stamport had 112. Also competing were Tristin Davis with 118, Macy Grabarkievtz with 119, Sydney Hermann with 128 and Emilie Keseling with 134.

The boys team finished with 407 strokes. Taking first in the meet was Lubbock All Saints Episcopal School with 344.

Leading the way for St. Paul was Walker Jackson who finished with 94 strokes. Cole Brown came away with 102, Jaydon Darilek had 104, River Haynes had 107 and Carson Reese finished with 109.
