Lela Elizabeth Carroll, 79, departed her earthly domain to her eternal home on Saturday, Feb. 10 surrounded by family and friends. She was born March 18, 1938 in Chula Vista, CA to Lloyd and Lela Elaine Carpenter. After starting a family with four children in California, she moved to Texas where she gave birth to her fifth child.

Although Lela was born in California, she spent many years in Uvalde, TX and in her final years her home was Gonzales. She was a resident at the Heights of Gonzales where she made many friends and captured the hearts of the staff. She enjoyed attending all the activities at the Heights and could most times be found sitting in the living area with a diet coke and M&M’s. She also acquired several nicknames while she was at the Heights, the ones she most often answered to were “boss” and “pudding cup.”

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings. She is survived by her five children; Rose, Robert, Linda Carroll of Gonzales, John (Shannan) Carroll of Magnolia and Patricia (Eric) Storey of Cost. Also, surviving her are her nine grandchildren: Sherry, Elizabeth, Joshua, Logan, Kayla, Gabriella, Sebastian, Maighann, Kyle and four great grandchildren: Abigail, Matthew, Tyler and JP.

The family will be receiving guests as we celebrate the life of our mom / granny at Heights of Gonzales on Feb. 24 at 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Heights of Gonzales, Activity Department: 701 North Sarah Dewitt Drive - Gonzales, TX 78614
