The Gonzales Noon Lions welcomed their Leos Club members yesterday, for a presentation of what has been going on in the club and what is to come.

Leo President Denessie Reyes told the Noon Lions about the success of the Leo Fundraiser Carnation Sale, reporting their club had sold more than 1,300 carnations, enabling them to make donations to several local organizations, including a surprise donation to the Noon Lions.

This year the Leos have donated $2,100. A total of $1,000 to The Noon Lions, $500 to Gonzales Christian Assistance Ministries (GCAM) and $600 to be split between the dogs and cats helped by Friends of Gonzales Animal Shelter (FOGAS).

Incoming President Karen Perez said she looks forward to continuing the tradition of charity and increasing membership in the 2017-2018 school year.

The Leos reported they will be working with other school organizations during these last few weeks of school to collect much-needed easy-make items, such as peanut butter and boxed cereals, for families with children who will be home alone this summer.
