Local library takes on science

Robert Lee Brothers Memorial Library is always looking for new ways to engage young readers and develop young learners. Not only do children learn from books, when they participate in library activities, sometimes they are learning through hands-on experiences too.

At 4 p.m. on March 5, former science teacher Ms. Rawlings will be reading How to Catch a Leprechaun and teaching Pre-K through fifth-grade students how to make “Leprechaun Slime” through a hands-on science experiment.

Library Director Caroline Helms said Ms. Rawlings, who is pursuing a masters degree in science, simply wants to spread the love of science and show youngsters that learning is fun.

“Last time the kids had a great time,” Helms said. “It’s so wonderful to see them absorbing knowledge.”

For more information about Ms. Rawling’s readings or experiments call the library at 830-672-9433.
