GONZALES – A local man was hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision that occurred last Friday just north of town.

The Texas Highway Parol reported that at 3:15 p.m. Friday, April 14, troopers were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on HWY 183 just north of CR 235. Troopers said the crash occurred when a 2004 Pontiac driven by Jose Gonzalez Torres, 28, of Gonzales, pulled out in front of a 2016 Chevy pickup driven by William Hathaway, 42, of Luling. Torres was pulling out of a private driveway when he struck Hathaway, who was headed north on 183.

The Pontiac struck the Chevy on its left front end before spinning and coming to a rest facing north. The Chevy came to a rest on the north shoulder of the highway, troopers reported.

Torres was taken by EMS to Gonzales Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries. He was issued citations for failure to yield right-of-way and no driver’s license. Hathaway was uninjured in the collision.
