GONZALES — A local man was jailed after police said he violated a criminal trespass warning and put up a fight when officers tried to arrest him.

At 2:03 a.m. Feb. 23, Sgt. J.D. Holt was dispatched to the 700 block of Oakland Ave. in reference to a disturbance in progress, Capt. Allen Taylor reported. While en route Holt learned from dispatch that the suspect — Concepcion Shawn Deleon, 22, of Gonzales — had a criminal trespass warning against him for that residence.

Upon arrival Holt spoke with the residents, who said Deleon had been inside the home and was creating a disturbance. Holt left the residence and searched the area for Deleon, finding him lying on the ground near a neighbor’s house. Deleon began running from the officer back to the residence at the 700 block of Oakland. He eventually stopped, but when officers tried to arrest him he resisted by locking his arms up. After a brief struggle officers were able to get Deleon into handcuffs. He was arrested and taken to Gonzales County Jail, charged with trespassing and resisting arrest.
