Local Shakespeare Ninjas raising money to go to England

GONZALES — While discussing an upcoming business trip to England, Crystal Theatre Director Barbara Krozier told her Shakespeare Ninja Troupe of her plans to take an extra weekend and see a play in London, at the renovated Globe Theatre.

"This discussion filled the children with curiosity," Crozier said. "They had lots of questions about the theatre and the renovations."

Crozier said she was taken aback when one of her ninjas told her they would probably never have that opportunity.

"This child told me they had never been any farther than Cost, Texas," Crozier said. "And I thought many of our children might not have that opportunity, so we have to do something to try and make it happen."

Crozier thought long and hard on the idea and in further discussion with the troupe they came up with some fundraising ideas that could take the troupe across the pond.

"We will be selling Come and Take it and Texas Flags at all of the Main Street Summer Concert Series Events and the Star Spangled Spectacular." Crozier said. "The children have already raised their first $100."

The troupe is selling the flags for $15 each, or both for $25. All proceeds go toward making their theatrical dreams come true. They will be on the square each Friday night and on July 4, during the Star Spangled Spectacular.
