This summer, five Gonzales-area youth were selected to attend Camp Shakespeare at Winedale, under the direction of Dr. James Ayres.

Following extensive training at Camp Shakespeare's first summer session, Gonzales' youngest Shakespeare Ninja Miguel Moreno wowed audiences with his performance in the Shakespearian comedy of words, Love's Labour Lost.

Now, four more area youth are away at Camp Shakespeare, including Ben Dement, Daniel Garcia, Ruby Hamilton and Avalon Palm.

"I have never seen a more excited group of campers," Crystal Theatre Director Barbara Crozier said.

These four campers will make up one-quarter of the cast, with their parts in Shakespeare's A Winter's Tale and will perform to a Gonzales audience at 3:30 p.m., on Thursday, July 13, at the Crystal Theatre.

Locally, the Crystal Theatre Workshop prepares to enter its 26th summer season. From 8:30 a.m. until noon, Monday July 10 through Friday, July 21 workshop attendees will be working on their summer performance More Stories, Please which will hit the stage following the workshop on the evening of July 21.
