Lowell Montaville Knipp, 79, of Gonzales, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016.  He was born October 3, 1937 in Arton, Ohio, the son of Roy and Mary Anderson Knipp.  Lowell was an accomplished singer and musician.  He began his career at the age of 11 by singing and playing guitar at various talent shows and events. This was the start of long career as a country entertainer.  He recorded several songs, played for Patsy Cline, opened for Willie Nelson and was under contract with Buck Owens.  He knew most all of the country stars during his career. He loved old country music and his favorites were Ray Price and Connie Smith.  He was an avid John Wayne fan and was an extra and stuntman in the movies “McClintock” and “Rio Bravo”.  He loved old westerns, NHRA drag racing and was known as an outstanding cook.  He married Betty Ann Adams on March 25, 1972 in Tucson, Arizona.  Lowell and Betty lived for many years in Tucson , AZ and Anchorage, Alaska.  After his career in music, he became a long distance truck driver and hauled everything imaginable across the US.  He is survived by his wife Betty Ann Knipp of Gonzales; daughters Kimberly DeCola and husband Ray of Gonzales, Christy Nelson, Terry Kruse and Shaudel Knipp all of Tucson, AZ; son Lowell Knipp Jr. of Anchorage, AK; sisters Carroll Arneson and Mary Sortore both of Anchorage and his twin grandchildren Jack and Mary DeCola of Gonzales.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Wanda Campbell and brothers Kennith and Wallace Knipp.  Memorial services will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Gonzales with Dr. Chris Irving officiating.  Arrangements under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, Gonzales.
