Luis Balderas Patino, 56, of Cost, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24,. He was born Feb. 13, 1962 in Mexico, the son of Francisco and Carmen Perales Balderas. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Gonzales Catholic Community.

He enjoyed fishing and traveling to visit family members. He was active with the ACTS retreat group. He was a caring and loving individual and continued this to the end of his life by being a bone marrow donor.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen Balderas of Cost; daughters, Marianna Balderas of Mexico and JoLanda Rodriguez and husband Joey Lee of Gonzales; sons, Raul Contreras Jr., Luis Balderas Jr. and Juan Lee Balderas and wife Britney all of Gonzales; sisters, Guadalupe Balderas of Mexico, Francisca Balderas of Mexico, Estella Balderas of Chicago, IL, Irma Balderas, Rosa Balderas and Ofelia Balderas all of Mexico; brothers, Jesus Balderas and Manuel Balderas both of Gonzales and Francisco Balderas Jr. of Tenneessee. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Kristi Contreras.

Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 27 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Reverend Stan Fiuk officiating. Interment followed at the St. James Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jesus Balderas, Mayolo Gaspar, Benito Rodriguez, Jose Alvarez, Ramiro Balderas and Crystal Riojas. Honorary pallbearers included his grandsons Devin Contreras, Dylan Rodriguez, Jordan Balderas, Jayden Balderas, Isaiah Balderas and Joey Rodriguez. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, Gonzales.
