Lula M. Pittman-Spears

Lula M. Pittman-Spears was born on Sept. 5, 1922 and passed away peacefully, on March 1 at Brookdale Senior Living in San Marcos, Texas. Lula was the third child born to the late Jodie and Helen Davis Pittman in Gonzales County, Texas.

Lula was married to Mr. I.V. Spears who preceded her in death, in 1982. Lula was a lifelong resident of Gonzales after retiring as County Agricultural Extension Agent in Brazoria County (Angleton, Texas) after providing thirty –seven years of service to the county. Lula was a proud and supportive graduate of Prairie View A&M University, class of 1947. Lula loved animals, gardening, volunteering, canning fruits and vegetables and working as a community advocate.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 10, 4-7 p.m. at The Harris Family Funeral Home, Gonzales, Texas and a celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 11 at 1 p.m. at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, Gonzales, Texas, Reverend C.A. Roaches, Pastor/Officiant. Interment will follow at McKellar Memorial Cemetery.

Lula is survived by a large and caring family who will miss her dearly.
