NIXON — A San Antonio man faces felony charges after police said he stabbed another man after slashing his tires.

On Aug. 21, Police Chief Floyd Toliver went to a residence in the 200 block of W.3rd Ave. in reference to a stabbing. There the victim informed him that Mark Spencer, 52, of San Antonio, had stabbed him during an altercation.

Toliver said the victim had gotten home from work around 6 a.m., and that he had fallen asleep in his truck. He later woke to the sound of air leaking from one of his tires, after which he exited the vehicle and caught Spencer slashing them with a knife.

A confrontation/scuffle ensued, Toliver said, during which Spencer stabbed the victim in the knee with a knife.

The victim was taken to Guadalupe County Medical Center in Seguin, where he was treated for the wound.

On Aug. 30, a warrant was issued for Spencer’s arrest. On Sept. 7, Spencer turned himself in at the Gonzales County Jail. He was later released on a $5,000 bond, and is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Toliver said the case has been turned over to the county attorney’s office.
