GONZALES — A Lumberton man remains in custody in Gonzales County Jail after police said he was arrested for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl.

At 9:15 p.m. Feb. 26, Officer Ryan Salles met with a man and his 9-year-old daughter at the police department and learned from the man that the girl was touched inappropriately by a man identified as Mark Mikeska, Capt. Allen Taylor reported. Authorities contacted Mikeska and told him to go to the police department, where Mikeska gave a statement denying the allegations.
