Martin “Sonny” Medina, Jr.

Martin “Sonny” Medina, Jr., 82, of Gonzales, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Seton Medical Center ICU in Kyle.

Funeral mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales and will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales with Father Stan Fiuk officiating. Interment will follow at Wrightsboro Cemetery. A rosary will be recited on Monday, Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. on Monday.

Sonny was born on Sept. 10, 1935 in Wrightsboro. He was the son of Martin Medina, Sr. and Barbarita (Garcia) Medina. He enjoyed being with friends and family and liked joking around with them. He enjoyed fishing and doing farm work and carpentry at his on place. Sonny was on the board of directors for the Ottine Fire Department.

Sonny is survived by one son, three daughters, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and a friend, Faye. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons and 12 siblings.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Ramirez, John Valdez, Ricky Rodriguez, Mario Flores, Eddie Reyes, Sr., Bobby Halliburton, Michael Medina, and Raymond Alvarez. Honorary pallbearer is Bubba Boehm.
