Melvin “Butch” Tealer

Melvin “Butch” Tealer went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 27, 2016 in Austin, Texas.  He was born in Gonzales County to Lillie Mae Tealer and Ernest Stovall. As a teenager, he accepted Christ as his guide, and joined Union Lea Baptist Church where he spent many years. He attended Gonzales High School.

Melvin moved to Austin, Texas and spent the rest of his life trying to please God and his family; especially his mother and wife. On his journey, he also enjoyed family and friend gatherings. He loved music and dancing. He lived his life to the fullest and without any complaints. On October 27, 2016, his journey home was completed.

Melvin was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother; Gussie Mae Tealer, grandfather; Oscar Tealer, father; Ernest Stovall and grandfather; John Henry Stovall. One brother; Mark Tealer, along with many Aunts and Uncles.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife; Debra Tealer, mother; Lillie Mae Tealer, grandmother; Ernestine Stovall, four sisters: Katherine Tealer, Jennifer Tealer of Austin, Texas, Rene Stovall of Houston, TX and Stephanie Stovall of Houston, TX. Four brothers; Ernest Stovall, Jr. of Houston, TX, Ronald Stovall, Michael Tealer and Frederick Tealer of Austin, TX. 2 nieces; Amanda Tealer, and Nyiesha Tealer. 4 nephews; Tyrrone Tealer Marquel Tealer, Jaylon Tealer and Jamal Tealer. 2 great nephews; Kater and Lu Won. A host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

Services was held at Union Lea Baptist Church, November 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.

Services entrusted to: Harris Funeral Home.
