Michael Lynn Kosser

Michael Lynn Kosser, 69, of Gonzales, passed away Monday, Nov. 26, 2018. He was born Feb. 26, 1949 in Batesville, Ark. to Charles E. Kosser, Sr. and Virginia Fallis Kosser.  He married Mary Lena Ehrig on May 27, 1969 in the First United Methodist Church in Gonzales. 

Michael’s father worked in education and coaching and eventually was hired as curriculum director for the Gonzales Independent School District where he also coached for a short period of time.  Mike played basketball for the Apaches and graduated from Gonzales High School with the Class of 1967.  Mike attended Southwest Texas State Teacher’s College before going to work for Perry’s.  He worked his way up to store manager in Brenham and later stores in Port Lavaca and Alvin.  Mike changed careers and was very successful in the sales of office supplies in Alvin and Houston. He was a vested partner in several successful businesses and worked at E-Barr Feed and Supply in the trailer sales division.

Mike was a fierce competitor.  He loved sports and dearly loved his University of Arkansas Razorbacks.  He loved card games from canasta to poker and he didn’t play to play, Mike played to win. He was a very social person and enjoyed interacting with people. 

Mike, in the estimation of his nieces and nephews, was the best uncle in the world.  He loved to play with the kids whether it was card games, water volleyball in his pool or shooting pool in his den, Mike loved to entertain them.  He delighted in playfully teasing them which always brought smiles and laughter.  Mike enjoyed life and he lived it abundantly.  His greatest pleasure was being an adoring husband to his lovely wife Mary Lena.

Michael Lynn Kosser is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Mary Lena Ehrig Kosser of Gonzales; nieces, Kelly Williamson, Pam Morales, and others he dearly loved.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles E. Kosser, Jr. and Tommy Kosser; and a niece, Cindy DuBois.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Pennington officiating.  Interment will follow in Hermann Sons Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be his nephews and spouses of his nieces; Bob Knoll, Rodney Ginn, Michael Ehrig, Bo Ehrig, Jack Ehrig and Keeton Ehrig.
