Monthly sales tax revenue distributed

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar sent cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $695.2 million in local sales tax allocations for December, reflecting a 10.8 percent increase over December of 2016.

Gonzales County is set to receive $196,527.81 in December allocations, for a year-to-date (YTD) total of $2,136,644.40. At this same time in 2016 the county received $123,254.36 in allocations. In 2015, the allocation was $148,099.04.

The City of Gonzales is also set to get an allocation. The city's cut will be $214,598.96, for a YTD of $2,340,016.21. In this same period in 2016 the city received $184,921.99 in sales tax revenue allocations. In 2015, the city's allocation was $191,924.24.

The City of Nixon will receive $76,688.58 in sales tax allocations, for a YTD of $322,140.86. According to City of Nixon officials, the larger-than-usual December 2017 allocation reflects a back payment of $51,835.16 for delinquent accounts. The actual current amount received was $27,516.96. In the same period, last year Nixon received $20,068.49. In 2015, the city got $28,470.82 in December allocations.

Smiley will receive $1,319.64, for a YTD total of $21,485.17. In December of 2016 the city's sales tax revenue allocation was $3,253.10. In the same period in 2015 the allocation was $4,026.79.

Waelder's December allocation will be $2,745.44, for a YTD of 49,866.20. In November of 2016 the city received $4,404.94. In the previous year the city received $4,873.45.

These allocations are based on sales made in October by businesses that report tax monthly, and sales made in August, September and October by quarterly filers.
