STOCKDALE — Nixon-Smiley just wasn’t able to punch the ball in during their 23-0 loss against the rival Stockdale Brahmas as they end the season 4-6, 1-4 in district.

The Mustangs won the time of possession battle, holding on to the ball 27:38 versus Stockdale’s 19:42, but that wasn’t enough in Friday’s game.

Leading the team in rushing was Joey Mendez who carried the ball 13 times for 110 yards. Right behind was quarterback Colby Newman who rushed 12 times for 65 yards. Newman went 1-for-8 for 12 yards and an interception.

On defense, Jonathan Carlos forced and recovered a fumble. Joey Mendez led the team with two sacks and eight tackles while Luis Perez and Dante Medina both scored half sacks.

Nixon-Smiley finishes the season in fifth place in District 14-3ADII.
