Mustangs end season with loss

The Nixon-Smiley Mustangs (2-8, 0-5) ended their season with a 33-14 loss against their rivals, the Stockdale Brahmas (4-6, 3-2).

Stockdale scored 27 straight points before Colby Newman scored a one-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter. Newman found the end zone again in the fourth quarter, a 13-yard touchdown run.

He led the team in rushing, running 25 times for 83 yards and two touchdowns. He also was 4-of-7 for 58 yards passing.

Catching those passes were Daniel Rodriguez with two grabs for 29, Devin Hester with one catch for 19 yards and Matt Mills with one grab for 10 yards.

Mills also grabbed an interception on defense while Newman forced a fumble and Rodriguez recovered a fumble.
