Mustangs named to all-district team

Despite a tough season, multiple Nixon-Smiley athletes were named to the all-district team in football for District 15-3AD2.

Senior quarterback Colby Newman led the way as the lone Mustang to be named to the offensive first-team all-district. Named to the second team was senior athlete Daniel Rodriguez, listed as a running back and wide receiver. On defense, Newman was named again to the first-team all-district, this time as a defensive back and linebacker. Senior defensive lineman Elix Carillo was named to the second team.

Honorable mentions include Carrillo as a tight end on offense, offensive and defensive linemen Devon Lopez and Luis Perez, running back Devin Hester, defensive lineman Efren Olalde, defensive backs Daniel Rodriguez and Matthew Mills and linebackers Chris Brown and Jason Yell.
