Myrtle Ann Robinson, 88, of Gonzales, passed away Sunday, April 8. Ann was born Jan. 28, 1930 in Gonzales County to Samuel William Lester, Sr. and Ethel Ruddock Lester. Ann married Fred Kenneth Robinson on October 20, 1952 in the Monthalia Methodist Church. Ann was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Ann was born and raised in the Floyd Chapel, Cost and Monthalia area. She graduated from Gonzales High School with the Class of 1948. After high school Ann moved to Mercedes, Texas and worked for her aunt and uncle in their grocery store. She moved back to Gonzales and went to work for the Iley Feed Store and later the Pruitt Feed Store. Ann worked for the Gonzales Inquirer for a number of years before going to work for the Gonzales County Clerk’s office where she stayed until retirement. All the while Ann was working she was diligent and faithful to her second job as a homemaker. She rose early and prepared breakfast for her husband and children and packed a suitable lunch for her husband to get him through his work day. Joyfully Ann managed her household, cared for her family’s needs and canned vegetables from her husband’s garden. Certainly Proverbs 31:28 is fitting in respect to Ann’s faithfulness and work ethic in caring for her family, “Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.”

Ann enjoyed trips to Branson and family camping excursions to destinations that took them all over the State of Texas. She loved children and being among friends. But for the most part Ann was a quiet person who believed in prayer and her faith. She was a voracious book reader and loved watching the Spurs play while she kept a book on each player’s point accumulation, assists, steals and fouls for each game. Ann also enjoyed listening to the Gonzales Apache football games with a team roster by her side to help her identify the name and position of each player. Ann enjoyed the excitement of the game show “The Price is Right”, but none of these brought her the joy she received from being surrounded by her family and the love therein.

Ann is survived by her loving family, daughter, Deborah Ann Robinson of Gonzales, son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Wayne and Rebecca Robinson of Warrenton, sister, Dorothy Breitschopf of Bertram, brother, Samuel William “Buddy” Lester, Jr. of Cost, grandson, James Wesley Robinson and his wife Sharon of San Antonio and great-granddaughter, Penelope Robinson of San Antonio. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a grandson, Samuel William Robinson.
