Myrtle Dolores Green

Myrtle Dolores Green, 88, of Gonzales, passed away Thursday, August 17. She was born July 5, 1929 in Gonzales, the daughter of Ernest and Effie Dyal Hendershot. She was a member of the Harwood High School graduating Class of 1947. She married Joseph Eli Green on November 29, 1947 in Gonzales.

She always exhibited a very strong work ethic throughout her life. She worked for Whiteside’s Café, North Avenue Cafeteria, was a printer for the Gonzales Inquirer for over 15 years, Love’s in Luling and later Johnson’s Tiger Tote. She was known by her family as a tough, hardworking and sometimes stubborn woman but was first and foremost a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter Norma Jean Moss of Gonzales; son Joseph Eli Green Jr. of Gonzales; grandchildren Joey Moss and wife Danie of Gonzales, Michelle Fernandez and husband Trent of Gonzales and Andra Fridrich and husband Ryan of Hockley; sister Juanita Hathaway of Luling; brothers James Hendershot and Haskell Hendershot both of Gonzales. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great-granddaughter Makayla Pekar, son in law Jon Moss and brother Charles Hendershot.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 19, at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Dr. Chris Irving officiating. Interment will follow at the Saturn cemetery. Pallbearers include Joey Moss, Ryan Fridrich, Wyatt Johnson, Jeffery Pekar Jr., Billy Hathaway and Ross Hendershot. Honorary pallbearers are Simon Hendershot, Jon David Moss, Samuel Eli Moss, Kayleigh Friderich, Ashley Pekar and Aribella Moss. Arrangements under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
