Newman named to all-state team

On June 11, the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association released their 3A All-State team for the 2018 season.
Senior outfielder Colby Newman was named to the first-team all-state for his stellar performance for the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs this year.
Newman finished the season with a .470 batting average, coming away with 31 hits, three doubles, three triples, one home run, 35 runs, 37 stolen bases, 16 RBIs, nine strikeouts and 25 walks.
