Gonzales City Council Oct. 10

  • Gonzales mayor Connie Kacir presented Hannah Fisher-Klug of the Guadalupe Valley Family Violence Shelter with a proclamation declaring Oct. 2019 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
  • Minutes from the Sept. 12, 2019 meeting were tabled.
  • Council absences from the final quarter of fiscal year 2018-19 were reviewed and approved.
  • All event-related consent agenda items passed.
  • Changes to the building maintenance and tourism director job descriptions were approved.
  • A memorandum of understanding between the city and Gonzales County and Gonzales ISD for aiding community health and safety promotion was approved.
  • Council nominated Lauren Clampit, Frank “Bud” Box, Craig Hines, Josie Smith-Wright and Sue Gottwald for the election to the Gonzales County Appraisal District Board of Directors.
  • Council permitted City Manager Tim Patek to solicit proposals for municipal solid wastes collections.
  • A revised code of ethics for all city officials and employees was approved.
  • Council approved a budget amendment in the amount of $185 from the fund balance to cover the difference in the Municipal Court Child Safety Fund.
  • City financial reports were reviewed.
  • District 1 Community Clean Up is scheduled for Oct. 21-26. District 4 clean-up will happen in November.

Gonzales County Commissioners Court Oct. 15

  • Minutes from the Sept. 30 meeting were approved.
  • Monthly reports from precincts 1, 3 and 4 were approved.
  • A lease agreement between the county and the Waelder Community Center for the Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 office was tabled.
  • Tax Assessor-Collector Crystal Cedillo delivered a monthly report as well as the fiscal year 2018-19 annual report. Both were approved.
  • The 2019 tax roll was approved.
  • A plan agreement with Texas County and District Retirement System was selected and approved.
  • Fiscal year 2020 Gonzales County Indigent Defense Grant Program resolution was approved.
  • Approval for court ordered final plat for Kocian Subdivision in precinct 2 was tabled.
  • Craig Hines was nominated to the Gonzales County Appraisal District Board of Director.
  • A donation to the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office from EOG Resources, Inc. was accepted. The donation included six laptops, three docking stations with keyboards and three monitors.
  • The court received a petition to abandon and vacate a portion of County Road 253 and authorized the posting of 20-day notice requesting closure of the road.
  • A list of updated election judges and alternates for the term Oct. 15, 2019 to Aug. 31, 2020 was approved.
  • The sole source justification for a 2014 Peterbilt truck for precinct 1 was approved, while a 2009 Kenworth truck was declared surplus with the intention of trading for another 2014 Peterbilt truck for precinct 4.
  • Discussions on purchasing an enclosed trailer to haul election equipment were tabled.
  • Float Fest founder Marcus Federman appeared before the court to answer any questions about his festival. He is seeking to obtain another mass gathering permit in county and hold his festival on July 24-26, 2020.
  • Budget amendment 62 for the previous fiscal year and 1 and 2 for the current were approved.
  • Bills were read and approved.
